TERRACE BREAKFAST PLATE

BRIEF

The Terrace Breakfast Plate is designed according to a brief supplied by the Israeli cafe chain ‘Aroma’.

Aroma described their ideology as a brand "of the people": they support adjustments of the dish according to customers' requirements, they are happy to give more dips for free and they encourage their customers to put together a breakfast meal they can share.

OBSERVATION FINDINGS

Aroma's "extra" attitude created clustered trays where people couldn't find things and would return to ask for things that were hidden

Due to the tray's clustering people would reach their table, spread all the items from the tray onto the table and return the trays to the counter

3

When sharing meals people seemed to have a lot of issues with dips they disliked touching each other

BREAKFAST PLATE FOUNDATIONS

1. A cutting area for the omelette

2. A dipped-in area with a sidewall to help scoop up salad

TWO-USERS MODE

The model answered diners' needs but what about kitchen staff? The plate had to be designed to survive the kitchen's heat.

TERRACE BREAKFAST PLATE

A new dishwasher friendly stoneware plate with plastic saucers to make sure the dressings don't mix but are still easy to share. The plate is designed to match the rest of the current Aroma set and leave space, so it snugly engulfs the aroma coffee plate.
