GARDEN HUB
חברותא
The Garden Hub was designed as part of a research course. My group focused on the lack of student friendly places where people could meet and work.
A thorough research of co-working spaces pointed out that they are non-affordable and most of them rely on expensive membership fees: even when the co-working space is a club making cash during the day.
RE-OCCURING MOTIVE
Bringing the outdoors inside
BRINGING THE INDOORS OUTSIDE
Supplying electricity and wifi for laptops in outdoor public spaces as a possible solution.
Municipalities support various public facilities - an outdoors co-working space could work well with "young city" campaigns.
How does an outdoor desk look?
OUTDOORS & DISTRACTIONS
Creating an outdoor hub is more than about supplying the basic needs to use a computer, it is about enabling people to enjoy bird sounds and a fresh breeze and yet not be distracted by the group of youths around the corner.
The circular structure creates an area with a focus point - a center - and around this center people gather.
USER HIERARCHY
The three circles are set at different levels. The 1st and most central circle supports bar seating and rather small tables , enabling individuals to sit and work alone. The 2nd circle is targeted at groups as it sponsors standard desk seating with rather large tables. The 3rd Circle is slightly lower and provides benches alone - targeting by passers wishing to sit for a moment.
